Kilrush is at the centre of a rich and diverse coastal landscape on the West Clare Peninsula. Set in the stunning seascape of the River Shannon, the islands of Hogg and Scattery and the picturesque village of Cappa, this is the perfect place to start exploring the west coast of Ireland. The designation of Kilrush as a Heritage town recognizes its legacy as a landlord estate town with a rich maritime tradition.
While in the area, take in the wonderful Vandeleur Walled Garden & Visitor Centre, take a trip to Scattery Island, and visit the Shannon Dolphin and Wildlife Foundation. You can also take a trip onboard the Dolphin Discovery to view the resident group of bottlenose dolphins in the Shannon Estuary. If travelling further south along the Wild Atlantic Way, take Shannon Ferries which connects you from Killimer in Co. Clare to Tarbert in Co. Kerry.
